What made you pursue OT, and where do you see yourself going: I did a placement in my undergrad shadowing a pediatric OT. I loved how OT addresses mental health, its so valuable to clients(and clinicians), mental health is important in any situation we encounter (even if it may appear to only be a physical problem at first).

I am torn, either pediatrics or hand therapy (or maybe mental health) who knows! We are so lucky to have so many options, I’ll see where my journey takes me.

What you enjoy most about the program:  People, people, PEOPLE. Everyone in our cohort is so supportive and great with sharing notes/resources. We also have incredible guest speakers (OTs and clients), profs and support staff.

Fun piece of information about yourself: I used to work at the Saddledome and one day at work when Vancouver was playing Calgary, the Sedin twins were warming up with a soccer ball. One of them missed the pass and the ball hit me instead.

One piece of advice to first year students: In the beginning I did all of the readings… Don’t recommend. Try your best to supplement and read stuff that you may need for discussions. Enjoy your time with friends and don’t take school too seriously. Also day timers/calendars help with the bazillion deadlines. Don’t worry about immunizations and all that other stuff, you’ll get it done. Whoops that was way more than 1.
