What made you pursue OT, and where do you see yourself going: Having a therapeutic relationship built on trust and collaboration intrigued me, as well as working towardsfunctional goals that are important to the client. I am fascinated by how no two people’s brains work exactly the same, and so I see myself working with pediatric clients with developmental disabilities and/or clients with neurological impairments. However, there is still so much more about OT I have to learn about, so I wouldn’t be surprised if my interests shifted.

What you enjoy most about the program: I really enjoy that I’m finally learning about things that are relevant to my future, like how to think like an OT. Because let’s face it, I’m never going to use what I learned in my undergrad paleontology class ever again.

Fun piece of information about myself: When we were kids, my sister counted 179 freckles on my face. This led to my first email: freckleface179@hotmail.com (don’t worry, this isn’t my current, active email – so please don’t try to contact me through it).

One piece of advice to first year students: Don’t take yourself too seriously! You’ve been accepted into the program, and you’re going to come out an OT. Learn lots and work hard, but enjoy yourself in the process.
