What made you pursue OT, and where do you see yourself going: I have always wanted to work in health care and with people, and OT seemed like a great fit for me. I decided to apply to OT after job shadowing and seeing the wide variety of roles that an OT can have. At this point, I can see myself working with children or in a mental health setting, but am eager to see what other interests I may gain throughout my schooling experience!

What you enjoy most about the program: I enjoy the community that we have created as a class, and knowing that everyone is in the same boat when it comes to assignments and exams. It is helpful to have a large group of classmates to turn to if help is needed. I also appreciate the staff and numerous guest speakers who share their knowledge on their areas of expertise, giving us a strong background to apply in the working world.

Fun piece of information about yourself: I love snowboarding and traveling. Last summer I visited Vietnam and Thailand and hope to go back someday!

One piece of advice to first year students: Don’t stress the small stuff… in the long run, a bad grade won’t matter to your future employer. Take each assignment and exam as a learning experience and try not to overthink the marking aspect.
